Tasmanian Water Safety Council Awards

We spend a lot of our time in the water, for both serious and pleasurable reasons. We value our access to the water, both inland and at the coast, but we know it can be very dangerous. Fortunately there are a great number of people, organisations, and businesses who take water safety very seriously, and who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to help us stay safe in the water.

The Tasmania Water Safety Council (TWSC) is made up of the major water safety and related government agencies and focuses on the presentation of key water safety issues to government, industry and the community. This year, the TWSC gives you the opportunity to bring recognition to your club or association, business, or an individual who has made a signification contribution to water safety in the community or in water-based industry.

The criteria for the awards are:-

  • An initiative which clearly assists the promotion and development of water safety in a specific area.
  • An improved practice or technique which contributes to safety in a specific area.
  • An invention or modification of equipment which increases safety.
  • Meritorious service rendered to community safety whether by an organisation or individual.
Although, if you know of a water safety initiative that does not fall within these criteria, please put in a nomination, this list is not meant to be exhaustive. We strongly encourage you to nominate your organisation or a person who deserves recognition for their contribution to water safety.

Nominations are now open and close on 31 August 2013 with the Awards presented during Water Safety Week in November 2013.
