Launceston Aquatic make their Big Splash

Launceston AFFD water basketball

A great day was had at Launceston Aquatic on Sunday 7 February at the Active Family Fun Day. Local children participated in water safety activities such as Safety Simon Says, rope throwing, water basketball, duck races, noodle races and rescue tube relays. The resuscitation demonstration was very popular with adults and children alike and those having a go received a Keep Watch PoolWerx resuscitation magnet to take home.

The lucky winner of the Sony PSP was Adrian Pearson and three children came very close to guessing the amount of ducks in the Keep Watch Duck Count Competition.

The Mayor of Launceston City Council, Alderman Albert van Zetten kicked off the UNCLE TOBYS® Big Splash Swimathon along with Launceston Aquatic Swim Club.  Over a two hour period, club members swam 2,200 laps which helped raised just over $1,000. Half of these funds will go towards the Royal Life Saving Swim and Survive Drowning Prevention Strategy and the other half back to the Launceston Aquatic Club - a fantastic effort!
