Commendation Awards
Commendations are given to people from all walks of life and all sections of society who have displayed exceptional or exemplary effort in the rescue, attempted rescue, resuscitative attempt or application of first aid of another human being. Commendations may also recognise outstanding rescue management or individual displays of initiative & resourcefulness in the rescue or attempted rescue of another.
Who may make a nomination
Any person or persons may make a nomination by completing a nomination form and forwarding it to the RLSNSW Office.
Number and types of Commendations
There are various categories that a Commendation applicant may be nominated for. The categories recognise the achievements of those within NSW professional services (NSW Police, NSW Fire Brigade, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Ambulance Service), as well as those from community or government organisations (Royal Life Saving NSW, Surf Lifesaving NSW, Waterways Authority etc) and individual community members within NSW.

2009 Commendation Awards Ceremony
Royal Life Saving's annual Commendation Ceremony at Government House awards people who rendered assistance and used their knowledge in water safety, rescue and resuscitation to aid an injured or ill casualty.
The Patron of the Society, the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO very kindly offered her time to present the Commendation Awards.
This Ceremony not only recognises the achievements of general community members but also personnel involved in law enforcement and emergency services including the NSW Police Department, NSW Ambulance Service, NSW Fire Brigade and the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The Royal Life Saving Society Australia New South Wales Branch would like to congratulate all of the people who received an award at the 2009 Commendation Ceremony for displaying outstanding initiative, expertise and empathy towards their fellow human beings.
