Home Pool Safety Checklist
Make this weekend your Home Pool Safety Weekend
Over the last 25 years, 965 children under the age of five drowned in Australia. Swimming pools are the leading location for child drowning, primarily due to a lapse in supervision, faulty gates, and propped open gates.
Royal Life Saving has developed a home pool safety checklist. This checklist allows pool owners to conduct a self-assessment of the home pool and its surrounds to ensure it is safe for everyone to enjoy and minimises the risk of young children drowning.
The checklist features 8 sections; the Swimming Pool Gate, Swimming Pool Fence, Around the Swimming Pool Fence, Supervision, Pump, Grates and Suction, Emergency Preparation, Chemicals, Electricity. This checklist does not substitute for a pool inspection and has been produced for education purposes only. Pool owners should consider getting a professional assessment of their pool’s compliance.
Royal Life Saving encourage all pool owners to make this weekend your home pool safety weekend and download a copy of the Home Pool Safety Checklist today.
