Water Smart
As children and teenagers become more independent, it is essential that they have the right knowledge, skills and attitude to be safe when they are in, on and around the water.
Our aim is to make all Australian children ‘Water Smart’ so they can actively and safely participate in aquatic activities. We encourage all schools to get involved in teaching water safety and become a Water Smart school.
The Water Smart program is a classroom resource for teachers and schools.
There are two components of the resource:
Water Smart Educational Toolkit
Deliver a unit on water safety with teacher’s notes, unit summaries and activities sheets all available to download.
Water Smart Award Guide
A fun and practical water safety award for primary school children in years 4 to 6 to achieve. This award is an easy program for teachers to deliver in the classroom or playground.
