Lifesaving Sport events are held across the world each year to tests a Lifesaver's skills in rescue, accident prevention and emergency care. Events range from State and National events to large, international events including the World Lifesaving Championships - Rescue Series, World Games and the RLSS Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships.
International Lifesaving Federation
The International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) is the world authority for drowning prevention, lifesaving and Lifesaving Sport. ILS leads, supports and collaborates with national and international organisations engaged in drowning prevention, water safety, water rescue, lifesaving, lifeguarding and lifesaving sport.

Events conducted by ILS and National Federations will be governed by the ILS Competition Manual.
The ILS Sport Commission has released the ILS Competition Manual Technical Bulletin (June 2014) which details the changes to the Manikin Carry from the latest version of the ILS Competition Manual (2013).
Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth
The Royal Life Saving Society is the Commonwealth's largest water-safety education, lifesaving and lifeguard training organisation. RLSS Commonwealth is represented in over 40 diverse countries with over two million lifesaving and resuscitation awards taken annually worldwide.
The Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth hosts the Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships every two years. In 2013, the Royal Life Saving Society - Australia (RLSSA) will host the RLSS Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships in Canberra, ACT, Australia from 4 - 8 September 2013.
The RLSS Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships are governed by the RLSS Commonwealth Competition Manual.
