Help Shape the Future of Inclusive and Impactful Sport in Australia

Royal Life Saving is encouraging the aquatic and leisure industry to contribute to two important national surveys that will help shape the future of sport in Australia - with a strong focus on inclusion, accessibility and demonstrating impact.

Led by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) in partnership with the Office for Sport, these initiatives align with the Play Well strategy and aim to strengthen how sport supports individuals, communities and the broader sector.

Disability Sport Survey Now Open

Stakeholders across sport, disability and community sectors are invited to take part in a national survey to inform the development of a national Disability Sport Action Plan.

Across Australia, many organisations and individuals are working to make sport more accessible and inclusive for people with disability. But barriers remain, including access, awareness, attitudes, cost, workforce capability and unclear participation opportunities. The survey will help identify what is working, where the gaps are, and what needs to change. These insights will guide future priorities and support stronger outcomes for people with disability in sport.

Input is encouraged from people with disability, families, carers, coaches, volunteers, administrators and providers - as well as those who have never participated or have disengaged from sport.

Insights gathered will directly inform future priorities and actions to improve inclusive participation outcomes across Australia.

Measuring the Impact of Sport

A second national survey - the Impact of Sport project - is also now live.

To better understand and explain the value of sport, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and the Office for Sport (OFS) are developing a clear and practical way to identify and measure its impact.

This project aims to establish a consistent, evidence-based approach to measuring the value and impact of sport across Australia. It will help define how sport contributes to social, health and community outcomes, and support stronger advocacy and investment across the sector.

The survey is open to individuals across all roles in sport and government and will contribute to a broader evidence base, including policy, research and sector case studies.

Get Involved

Royal Life Saving encourages aquatic facilities, swim schools, local governments and industry professionals to take part in both surveys and share them across their networks.

By contributing your insights, you will help ensure the future of sport in Australia is more inclusive, evidence-driven and reflective of the communities it serves.
