National Water Safety Summit

Leading water safety experts and advocates have come together at the National Water Safety Summit in Sydney, in a bid to address rising drowning rates.

Following a summer drowning toll where drowning rates rose 30 per cent on the previous summer, water safety experts will look at ways to work with at-risk groups within our community, including young children, people from multicultural backgrounds and people in rural and regional areas of Australia.

The National Water Safety Summit is an opportunity to refocus discussions following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to look at ways to strengthen the Australian Water Safety Strategy 2030.

The event, which is co-hosted by Royal Life Saving Society – Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia, will bring 200 experts from across the nation.

Presenters include researchers, water safety experts, state and local governments and educators.

Media are welcome to attend any of the presentations and breakout sessions across the two-day program.

The program can be downloaded here: https://www.royallifesaving.com.au/research-and-policy/australian-water-safety/awss2030-national-water-safety-summit/program

The Summit is being held at the ICC Sydney, 14 Darling Drive, Sydney.
