Safety tips to stay safe in and around floodwater:
- Never drive through floodwaters
 - Never swim in flooded waters
 - Never ride on boogie/surf boards in floodwater
 - Wherever possible, wear a lifejacket when in, on or around floodwaters
 - If conducting a rescue, avoid entering water yourself
 - When swimming in natural waterways after floods be aware that conditions may have changed since you last swam there
 - After floods, always check the water before entry and enter slowly feet first
 - If a river level rises, go to safety as quickly as possible
 
If you need to be rescued in a flood:
- Dial Triple Zero (000) for help
 - Wait for rescue operators to arrive
 - Comply with rescue operators' instructions
